LCD Projector
LCD (liquid crystal display) are projectors which contain three separate LCD panels, one each for the red, green, and blue components of their video signal. Light taken from a halogen lamp is introduced which gives off an ideal color temperature. From there the color spectrum is split by a prism into the three component colors. While very popular for a while, LCD projectors have since taken a back seat to DLP projectors. Lamps in LCD projectors have the ability to produce an extremely large amount of light within a small area. Projectors of 2,000-4,000 lumens are the average. As light passes through the LCD panels, individual pixels can be opened to allow light to pass, or closed to block it. This modulates light and is pivotal in the production of the image that is projected onto the screen. It allows many different shades from each color LCD panel to be displayed. Used LCD projectors can be bought from one of many resources. First off, you may be able to get a wholesale price on your LCD projector from any number of different sources. Why not start by going directly to the producer? They often offer steep discounts in merchandise as specific as projectors, especially, as is evidenced, the LCD is flying south for the winter and has no plans of coming back. You may worry about on going service from an out going company but you shouldn’t worry too much about that; why not try going direct to the producer? After that, there are wholesale electronics retailers that should be able to help take you down the wholesale path for projectors. Again, with the lapse in LCD projectors as of late, you may have trouble locating what you’re looking for. Don’t give up! There big box merchandisers all have hub locations; do a query and see if they can order it from another location for you. Finally, why not try your online resources? You can often get the best deals from trusted online sites, auction sites, or direct from the website of the projector producer. If you’re ever concerned about the location where you’re getting this unit from, I say better safe than sorry. I have a $90.00 battery which didn’t fit an old laptop of mine and I had no recourse because the seller was from one of those auction sites and had no person I could speak to and didn’t return my emails; even the battery came in a brown box with no return address or anything!
