Projector Screen
Projector screens are an integral part of the projector unit and should not be taken for granted. If you’re shopping for your projector unit, you should consider a few items before you do so you can factor in the cost of the screen. Projector Screen Use: Where will you be using this projector primarily? Up until recently the only use many of us had for or from projectors were from one of two places; school or the movies. For me it was math; almost every math class I took used a projector. After writing out these long boring algebra rules or long division problems we would copy down, the teacher would then take down the projection and lead us on one of those circuitous discussions had in math. Thinking that maybe we’d made some sort of difference, I’d always be sad to see that the whole point of the discussion was so that we would reach the conclusion our bonkers teacher had put up as a projection in a previous class. Hence the reality of the world’s come full swing. If your projector screen is for school purposes, you’ve probably got one at your disposal that’s rolled up in front of your chalkboard. If your projection is a movie screen, then you’re talking about an entire other kind of projection screen. But what about for John Q. Public who wants to watch things in his home? What steps should he take? What kind of material does he need for a projection screen? These are all important questions that have multiple answers. If you’re talking about a projection screen that’s going to be of a smaller variety, say less than 3 feet by 6 feet, and it’s a screen which you’ll use often there may be some kind of deal your projector dealer may want to include as a package. However if the screen is going to be of bigger variety you may actually want to find an independent contractor to make you a screen; if you’re lucky enough to have something like a “screening room” and or even if you’re just a movie buff, it may end up being in your best interest to go the independent route. Going to an outside source may also allow you greater choice in terms of selection of a projector screen. You should see all the variety that you can before settling on a final product; this is no different a purchase than buying a television or a car; if it’s something that you’ll use that often or even if you only use it every once and a while, you want to make sure that your projection screen is of the utmost level of quality. So the rule in general getting very specific, when you’re selecting your projector screen is don’t go cheap.
